Forward Fund

The Forward Fund is a key strategic initiative that allows the National Park Foundation (NPF) to be nimble and offer real-time responses to address urgent needs identified by the National Park Service.
For example, as an independent nonprofit, NPF can readily step in and help the National Park Service by providing funding through park-specific partner organizations. NPF’s assistance can take various forms, including providing capacity grants and seed funding to partner organizations — catalyzing their work or allowing them to leverage funds to unlock new funding opportunities.
NPF has the unmatched ability to enhance the National Park Service’s work by leveraging public investments and mobilizing public-private partnerships to secure the future of our parks.
One thing is clear: national parks benefit from a reserve of readily accessible, flexible funds that can be deployed where most needed. Such funding strengthens national parks by helping to ensure that they can respond to critical needs and plan for the future.
